What are butterfly valves?
Butterfly valves are widely used to control, regulate, and isolate the flow of liquids and gases in industrial processes. They operate with a rotating disc mounted on a central shaft, which opens or closes to manage flow through the pipeline. Their compact design, fast operation, and low maintenance make them a practical choice in industries such as water treatment, HVAC, data centers, and food production.
Advantages of butterfly valves
These valves offer several advantages compared to other valve types. Their lightweight construction and simple design make them easy to install, even in large-diameter pipelines. They provide efficient flow control with low pressure loss, quick quarter-turn operation, and reliable sealing. In addition, their limited maintenance needs and cost efficiency make them suitable for both standard and demanding applications. With the right seat and disc materials, they can handle a wide range of temperatures, pressures, and corrosive media.
Bray butterfly valve product range
Bray offers a comprehensive range of valves engineered for reliable industrial performance. From resilient seated to high-performance and triple-offset designs, each solution is built for durability, tight sealing, and smooth integration with Bray automation systems, including options for custom-engineered applications.
Series 20/21: resilient seated butterfly valves
The Series 20 (wafer type) and Series 21 (lug type) are designed for dependable shutoff in general-purpose applications. Featuring a bidirectional, bubble-tight seal up to 10.3 bar, they are commonly used in HVAC, water, and food processing systems. Available in sizes from 25 mm to 500 mm, they support various seat materials such as BUNA-N, EPDM, and PTFE.
Series 30/31: heavy-duty resilient seated butterfly valves
The Series 30 (wafer) and Series 31 (lug) offer higher pressure ratings and extended temperature ranges for more demanding conditions. With pressure capability up to 12 bar and temperatures from -29°C to 204°C, they are widely applied in chemical processing and water treatment. Seat options include EPDM, BUNA-N, and FKM for compatibility with different media.
McCannalok (Series 40-45): high-performance double offset valves
The McCannalok (Series 40-45) range features a double-offset design for reliable operation under high pressure and temperature. The resilient (R)PTFE seat provides a bidirectional, bubble-tight seal across the full pressure range. Its robust construction and self-energizing seat ensure long-term performance in demanding environments.
TriLok®: triple offset metal seated butterfly valves
Bray’s TriLok® valves represent advanced metal seated technology. The metal-to-metal sealing system delivers zero leakage under extreme conditions. Fully tested to ISO 10497 and API 607 fire-safe standards, they are available in materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, Monel, and Hastelloy. Their temperature range from -254°C to +538°C makes them suitable for critical applications.
Applications of Bray Controls butterfly valves
